Finishing Services

Finishing Services

At NCP International, we offer a wide range of metal finishing services to meet the diverse needs of our customers. A complete list of the finishes available at our facility can be found below.

In addition to the services listed, our sister company, Nassau Chromium Plating, provides several specialized finishing solutions that are not currently offered at this location. If you do not see the specific finish or service you require, we encourage you to contact us. Our team will be happy to discuss your needs and help determine the best solution for your project.

CITRIC ACID PASSIVATION

Used primarily on stainless steel, this process removes free iron and contaminants from the surface of the substrate. Citric Passivation also helps form a natural chromium oxide layer on the surface, providing corrosion resistance.

CHROMATE CONVERSION COATING (CHEM FILM)

Chem Film provides a thin, protective layer that enhances corrosion resistance on aluminum substrates. Unlike anodizing, this coating remains electrically conductive, making it suitable for grounding and electrical bonding applications. In addition, chem film serves as an excellent base for primers and paints, promoting strong adhesion and long-term coating performance.

PRE-PENETRANT ETCH

Pre-penetrant etch is a controlled surface preparation process used on substrates that require liquid penetrant inspection (LPI).  The etching process gently removes a small amount of surface material, helping to expose and highlight surface imperfections.  As a result, defects such as smearing and metal flow become more visible and easier to detect during the inspection process.

CHROMIC ACID ANODIZE (TYPE I)

Chromic anodize is an electro-chemical process that offers excellent corrosion protection and strong adhesion for primers and paints.  Chromic anodize provides a thin, light oxide barrier, which is particularly important when maintaining close tolerances.

BORIC-SULFURIC ACID ANODIZE (TYPE IC)

Boric-Sulfuric Acid or known as BSA is recognized by the aerospace and defense industry as a safer alternative to chromic anodize.  BSA offers comparable characteristics to chromic with minimized risk to the processor’s health and the environment.

MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTION (MPI)

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) is a non-destructive test (NDT) method used to detect surface and near-surface defects, such as cracks or inclusions, in ferromagnetic materials. A magnetic field is used to magnetize the part, and a magnetic particle solution is then applied. The particles accumulate at discontinuities in the material, making defects visible for inspection.

LIQUID PENETRANT INSPECTION (LPI)

Liquid Penetrant Inspection is a non-destructive test (NDT) method used to find imperfections or defects in the surface of the part. The process works by applying a penetrant solution to the part and allowing for the solution to fill cracks or defects, making them visible to the inspector.

PAINT & PRIME

Offering Mil spec prime and paint. Paint and prime refers to preparing and coating a metal surface for protection, appearance, and durability. Commonly used on aerospace, industrial, automotive, and fabricated metal components where long-term protection and finish quality are important.

MASKING

Masking is a critical preparation process used to shield specific surfaces from treatment while ensuring designated areas receive the required processing. A tech will apply protective materials such as vinyl tape, plastic tape, and rubber plugs to components according to drawings and blueprints. Precision and attention to detail are essential to ensure each part is properly prepared for the next stage of production.
